IC CHARACTERISTICS:
•CURRENT CANON POINT: Partway through Advent Children, when Cloud finds Tifa unconscious at the church and then gets hit with a geostigma attack.
•PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Cloud's 5'8" and skinny but well-built, very fit and trim. His distinctive spiky hair is natural and soft, not styled that way, and he's incapable of growing visible facial hair XD he's still pretty baby-faced despite everything he's been through. He's got the characteristic vivid eyes of a SOLDIER, which glow in the dim/dark and are bright, bright blue with subtle veins of mako green. Despite not having actually been military for a while now, he still prefers to dress in clothes designed to be sort of reminiscent of a SOLDIER's uniform - sleeveless, extraneous belts/straps, pretty simple but with some subtle style. Otherwise, he tends to choose clothes that are casual but well put together. He also still wears his sword harness despite not having his swords (yet) on the ship.
His accent and manner of speech are casual to the point of sometimes more crass than someone might expect from him. He's from the middle of bumfuck quasi-Nordic/quasi-Appalachian nowhere, so not exactly Mr. Refined, but not uneducated. His scent is most often a mix of leather and the subtle, ozone-like smell of mako. On that note, anyone capable of sensing auras or magical energy, things like that, will notice the mako as well.
•DEMEANOR: Cloud is usually a man of few words, blunt and to the point. He has a penchant for deadpan sarcasm and looking like he's So Done. He's socially awkward and sometimes gets embarrassed easily, and he's terrible at hiding it. He tends to swing back and forth between self-deprecating and cocky, depending on context and who he's talking to. He has good self-discipline and can be very patient...unless your name is Sephiroth.
When Cloud's in his element or focused on something, his posture is great; when he's in a social situation and feeling out of place or put on the spot, or just generally existing in a social environment, he tends to duck his head and hunch a little. Generally, his body language is either brisk and efficient or casual sass. Lots of hands on hips, folded arms, gesturing with his chin kind of stuff. He doesn't fidget or pace - if he's not doing anything in particular, he's pretty still. When he's feeling self-conscious or down, he tends to make himself seem smaller, draws in on himself. For anyone who knows Zack Fair, he will occasionally do something that's eerily reminiscent of Zack's body language, little gestures and things. It happens most often when he's fighting with his sword.
•ABILITIES: Normally, he's a supersoldier: all his physical traits enhanced, somewhat accelerated healing, somewhat enhanced senses. He also knows how to draw power and knowledge from materia to do things like enhance skills, cast magic spells, and perform special techniques. As an inmate, he's lost some of the mako enhancements, since SOLDIERs were made for nothing but battle - the strength, primarily, and a good portion of the stamina, speed, and athleticism. He's kept most of the coordination, healing, and senses, and some of his superhuman reflexes.
He's also what the original game calls a "Sephiroth clone," which is not a power so much as a thing inflicted on him, but it is relevant since Sephiroth is here on the barge. He's infused with a particular kind of alien DNA that mimics Sephiroth's own, making him susceptible to the Jenova Reunion effect. It's really more curse than ability, but it means Cloud can vaguely sense the presence of other clones, subconsciously track Sephiroth down without even realizing he's doing it, theoretically communicate telepathically through the Jenova hivemind, and even absorb memories from other clones/SOLDIERs - though he has no control over any of it, so it's mostly an avenue by which he can be manipulated.
As for skills/talents: he's a highly trained soldier even without the mako enhancements. Excellent marksmanship, superb with large swords, good with hand-to-hand even if he sometimes errs on the side of street brawling rather than CQC. He excels in most physical pursuits; some he's especially good at/fond of include maintaining motorcycles and driving them like a maniac with no problem, riding and racing mount animals, snowboarding, hunting/monster-killing, and using machinery. He's also a very quick learner in most non-cerebral things, partially because Jenova is a mimic and so he's subconsciously good at copying what others do, partially just because he's always been good at picking up new things. He has extremely good tactical awareness and is talented at planning approaches to situations based on the environment - for instance, the best way to infiltrate a location or the best route from one place to another. He makes for a good if untraditional commander, too, when he isn't super depressed.
He has basically no social skills to speak of. XD
•MEDICAL INFORMATION: If the infirmary can somehow get Cloud to stay longer than the two seconds it takes to walk out the door, they would find him in immaculate health. He's basically immune to ordinary illnesses and his injuries heal faster than normal. He also has a high pain tolerance. If they examine his blood/cells/etc., his body chemistry has been altered with mako and he shares some of Sephiroth's weird alien DNA.
•CABIN INFORMATION: His cabin has a plain, unassuming wooden door. The interior looks a lot like his room back in Edge, but with the homier feel of his childhood home. A weird blend of industrial post-apocalyptic grunge and warm, welcoming rural charm.
•OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: Human experimentation, medical labs, harm to children, possession/mind control.
IC PERMISSIONS:
•MENTAL: Absolutely; he is very susceptible to this kind of thing, so it wouldn't be difficult at all (especially if your name is Sephiroth). The character poking around in his head will get way more trouble than they bargained for, though, even now his mind is a bit of a lingering dumpster fire. If he finds out about it, he'll either be pissed or re-traumatized. Or both.
•MIMICRY: Sure.
•VIOLENCE: You bet - he loves a good fight, though he generally doesn't start them himselfunless your name is Sephiroth. Even nerfed as a new inmate, that wouldn't stop him from fighting anyway.
•MAGIC: Go for it. He has no materia currently, so his magical resistance is only middling.
•DEBATE: They can try, but Cloud isn't likely to engage.
